  2. Means of disposal of debris and if it is buried on site then the exact location, site plan for review and approval will be required

  1. Mention of any probable collateral damage to the neighbouring properties and the precautionary measures are taken

  2. How the area will be cordoned to secure the site when it is unattended

  3. Provide a rational timeframe for the duration of demolition

  4. Attached documents of all pertinent utilities located and retired and

  5. Attached document of an asbestos report.

The Checklist to Follow

You will need to follow a checklist to obtain permits for commercial demolition just as the Building and Code will do prior to issuing the permit. The planning staff for historic significance and for conservation façade easements will verify your completed application form. If the building is in a historic district commission jurisdiction then a written approval from the department is required. Along with that, the other requirements include:

  1. A copy of sewer seal from the relevant department of water utility

  2. The permit fee which varies according to the square foot of the building to be demolished

  3. Depending on the value of the project the state contractor’s license is required along with the city business license and

  4. A surety bond is also required that you may take from your insurance company and submit the original.
